The first hole is a short par 4 with a dog leg to the left. The drive is not as daunting as it used to be with the re-shaping of the old creek into a much more generous gully. Shorter hitters have an easier tee shot with a generous landing area. The fairway and scrape slope from right to left so this adds an extra challenge to approaching from a longer distance.

Longer hitters have a big decision to make as they have to decide whether to take on the trees and dam to the left or play a conservative shot to the right. The reward for taking on the trees and dam is a much easier chip or putt and can lead to a simple birdie or eagle. The players who choose to take their driver and fail to take an agressive enough line will find themselves in the tree line near the 18th fairway. The approach from this area is not necessarily difficult but does require some care to negotiate all the trees.

The scrape is average in size and like many on the golf course slopes towards the dams and creek.
